02/11/2020 Tuesday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

Team Billand was checking the outfall at 7 am when they spotted a seal coming it. It stayed for about 15 minutes but then they lost sight of it.  They noticed the NOAA sign is damaged and probably should be replaced.

At 9:45 Team Billand found Kawena and Lefty on the rocks at a near by beach. Kawena RH36 was to the right of RG28 Lefty.  Both are looking healthy and fine, nothing out of the ordinary.

Just before 11 am Team Billand was at a westside location and spotted a slightly greenish critter. It was Ka'ale RH32 was alone on lower rocks with his tags visible.

About 15 minutes later little Kalua RL20 was seen with his mouth wide open. He looked like he was eating a crab or small fish. Something was sticking out of his mouth. Then RL20 hauled up on lower rocks.
Both seals remain with no interaction between them.

Next Team Billand saw two seals foraging off campbells. They
were doing 3 to 5 minute dives. They noticed one with a big white snout could be Kolohe but no confirmation. They watched for 40 minutes and then gave up on getting a positive ID

Team Billand stopped in Mahaha and fround a very large female. They were able to ID RL42 Leia who was with a male. It took them a little bit but finally saw his tags and ID'd Holokai RG40.
Both were resting near the wall and Miss Leia RL42 was a little restless moving around a lot.
