02/14/2020 (part 2) Lesley's Ka'ena Update

Aloha all and hope  you had a nice Valentine's Day

I'll start with info that came in regarding our U/M from the last couple of days at KPt: "Temp seal from Kauai from last year.  He was Temp360 but has now earned the new ID of R407. "

Today Kekai joined me after we did errands in Mililani so we started out late. First stop was to check Birth Beach were we found RO40 Ka'ena - he may have overnighted dur to trails

We were on a thigh time frame so when we saw seals we did a quick ID and documentation.

As soon as we stepped in the NARS we got to see the Black Footed  Albatross flying over us. On our way to the point we saw RW02 PVKauai in Ka'ena's Pool. From there we saw a seal down the Runway, it was RN58 Luana.

Several hikers told us about the small baby seal at the point. We found little RL98 Lina sleeping near the waterline on Back Beach. That girl has put and incredible amount of nautical miles these last week.   More tomorrow
