9/14/2016 DB's Dailies: Kea@Rabbit Island, DB Kekoa@Maili Point, Team Billand

It was a tough morning in the SE quadrant. Pretty much constant, dumping rain. Seeing Rabbit Island was out of the question, let alone somebody on it. Finally, at 1130 it cleared up enough to get a look, and it got progressively better through the afternoon. Right away I saw an area of light colored sand up in the tall grass, but it would be 1212 before the sand mound did a hind flipper flex. Based on the color alone along with recent history I figured it was Kea, and sure enough when he finally started moving down at 1232 the Kea (RN46) was confirmed. He would enter the water at 1343.

At 0754 Team Billand reported Kekoa (RK72 at Maili Point.

Many of you may have seen this video already today, but if not here is a tribute to our little Ui'lani (RK36), done by NOAA.
