9/17/2016 DB's Dailies: Kea@Rabbit Island, Kaiwi@Outrigger Canoe Club, Pohaku@Nanakuli, Kekoa@Maili Pt, Lei Ola@Turtle Bay, RK36@Mokuleia, BG@Camp Erdman, Ka'ale@KP Parking Lot, Ka'ena,RIP&Kerby@Ka'ena Pt,

I arrived at Makai Pier at 0730 to find an empty beach on Rabbit Island, however at 0806 Kea (RN46) moved out of his hiding place amongst the tall grass, and moved down to the water line to cool off. He would remain all day and was the sole RI resident.

At 0600 Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28), once again at Puka Pants Beach, Nanakuli.

Marilyn & Lesley did their usual Saturday trek to the End of the World (Ka’ena Point), but stopped to check the Mokuleia area before heading out for the point.

At 0805 Marilyn reported RK36 at the birth beach, Mokuleia. At 0823 she reported BG (R303) at Camp Erdman.

At 0902 Marilyn called again to advise that they hd found Ka’ale (RH32) just west of the KP parking lot, and had put up an SRA.

At 1050 Marilyn called with the report of Ka’ena (RO40) at the main pool, RIP(RR70) on the back beach, and Kerby (RW08) at Ka’ena’s Pool at Ka’ena Point.

At 0824 responded to Zablan Beach, Nanakuli having received a call about a hooked seal. On arrival there was no seal, and fishermen witnesses advised that the animal had just swum by, without hauling out. A “bobber” was seen around mid body as it swam by. I’ve heard no further word.

At 0930 Team Billand reported Kekoa (RK72) at Maili Point.

Diane G., spent quality time with Lei Ola (RH48) foraging in the McKenzie’s area, and then hauling out for a snooze at the Keiki Pool.

Gina Walker sent Kaiwi (RK96) shots from Outrigger Canoe Club today.
