At 0717 I found Sadie&Pup(D#18)(RB12), snoozin’ near the water line at the left end of Rabbit Island. They were do two observed water sessions with feed & snooze period between.At 1127 a potential disaster began to play out. You’ve seen many shots of the Pa Honu outrigger, sailing canoe off shore of RI. Today two males off the boat decided to snorkel in exactly the wrong place, right where Sadie&Pup were swimming , and haul out. Neither they or the boat owner had any clue that there were a Mom&Pup there so they just snorkeled right to the location. Thankfully, nothing happened, because Sadie&Pup were just hauling out at the same time that these guys arrived. The guys saw Mom&Pup on the beach, and Sadie saw them, but decided to remain with the pup. Thankfully the guys departed the area, returning to the boat to excitedly tell the others about their experience. Interestingly enough, the sign that NOAA uses to warn people of the dangers of interfering with a Mom & Pup, showing the guy with an arm wound came for the same kind of experience when Ewa Girl was with her pup, Sadie, at Rabbit Island. I don't wish anyone harm.... but every once in a while I do wish a seal would be a little more aggressive to give people a good scare. Did not realize that photograph had to do with Ewa Girl and Sadie.... Miss that big beautiful seal.
At 0858 Marilyn called with the report of Kaiwi (RK96) at the Kokee Flats. Melanie would report that she was still there on her afternoon session.At 0857 Team Billand reported a foraging Pohaku (RO28) off shore of Campbell Industrial Park.
At 1319 they found RL42 & Benny (RE74) together at Makua Cliffs. It looks like Benny has had his fill of Molokai chicks and has decided to return to the Oahu girls.
A Dana email at 1319 provided video footage of an animal hauling out to “Barber’s Point”. That can mean different things to different people, but it was narrowed down to across from the Coast Guard airfield. At 1448 Team Billand confirmed the Rocky (RH58) ID on the animal to the left of Wind Sock.

Many thanks to Robert for his long day with the seals. I dont know what I would do without you and your patience.
Rocky came up, some lady took a video, got the call of the haul out.
We were with Benny and L42 at Makua, but, we dashed out there to see what lovely seal hauled out. It was Rocky RH58, N11 Bleach. Called for help not one person came. Tsk. Tsk.
So we stuck it out till almost 6pm. Educated the fishermen, one homeless guy who was nice. Rocky got her protection, a nice rest on the rocks. She was sweet to watch.
I wonder, when our organization changes over, will we get help? I wonder.
Rocky remained, we gave in, tired, but happy we saw Miss Rocky.
Seems since all our other seals passed away, she has the roam of the area now. We see her more than ever lately. I guess she prefers her own space. God bless her.
