April 3, 2025 Thursday's Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕
Marilyn did view Rabbit Island but there were no seals seen during her observation.

Team R&B started their day at Maili and they found a fat seal at the seal inlet. They believe this was RH76 Kala hiding out from the boys. She was resting peacefully alone.

Heading over to kahe they found multiple seals resting on the rocks.  Guess they all had their fill and now getting some rest.  There was a total of five seals:
First there was RG28 Lefty
Brothers RP30 Puka and RM31 Kai were in the shallows resting and playing.
The fattest seal on the rocks was RH32 Kaale.  He eventually would leave heading for the boat across the outfall area.
Lastly there was RL20 Kalua. It took them awhile to ID the younger fat seal, but he finally moved and they saw the fishing line trailing, no hook. They noted a scar on his posterior where the line may have cut into his side. (he was gone on their recheck of the area)

When they went back to recheck the area after being stuck in traffic. They were happy to see RK72 Kekoa Alii was there resting against a rock.  They were able to see his tags.
RP30, RM31 and RG28 were still there on the rocks resting.
They also had a sweet visitor today, their very own beach baby.

April 2, 2025 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:00 to 2:20 pm and there was one seal seen during that time.  Todays winds made it difficult to hold the scope and camera steady.
Just as she was setting up she spotted a juvenile to small sub-adult seal enter the water from the rocks flats on the Lanikai side of SRI. Then at 1:19, she noticed a seal about 1/3 of the way between 1BS and 2BS. This may be the same seal. Marilyn labeled the seal as an Unknown Juvenile: juvenile size, at least two red tags, no info on sex because the seal hardly changed position.

Team R&B headed out early to search for seals and made it to pokai. Once they left there they gor stuck in traffic for over three hours due to an awful car accident involving a police vehicle.
They got to the area later and found three seals resting.
RP30 Puka was well hidden in the rocks, with his tag visible. RG28 Lefty was in the pond snoozing. Then there was RM31 Kai positioned in the rocks.
While they were watching them they heard a seal, barking, snorting
and moaning. They saw the seal but it was in the water, came close in and then flew out of the area going from rock to rock formation heading in the direction of KoOlina.
They saw a fishing line, coming from the left corner of its mouth. They thought they saw the swivel at his mouth, but not positive. They were not able to make an ID, they couldn't tell much other than the seal was upset.

April 1, 2025 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:25 to 1:50 and there were three seals during that time.
Initially alone between Middle Cliff and 3BS was a Sub-Adult Female 1: smaller sub-adult size, tan female belly and at least two and possibly three tags. This could possibly be RQ44 Mahina if she still has her three tags.
At about 1 pm a large adult seal hauled out to SF1. Marilyn believes the newcomer to be RL08 "Bam Bam Square Pants" based on his CC scars above his LFF and RFF, on his mid-dorsal and his rear right side, male belly, unsure about tags. He pestered SF1 before she headed for the water and he followed at about 1:08 pm. Marilyn saw them a few times and then lost sight of them.
When Marilyn first arrived there was a seal behind the waterfront rocks down from the 3BS. This seal is labeled Sub-Adult Female 2: small sub-adult size, older coat with very green female ventral and two red tags. She moved up the beach around 1:10 pm and a few minutes later, RL08 hauled out to her. They had some minor interaction, but RL08 stayed with her.

Team R&B had an overall slow seal day.  Their first find was RM31 Kai alone hauled out on the rocks.
They hung out going back and forth, as they saw other seals foraging near the outfall area.
When they got back to Kahe they found RP30 Puka sleeping way inland. They were happy to see the "brothers" hauled out and safe.

At the outfall there were two seals. They did their best to ID them foraging, but with the rough water and windy conditions they didn't have much luck. They watched as snorkelers followed the poor seal into the outfall area. The seal turned around and left to open ocean.
As they watched the two seals one of the seals headed to electric beach and hauled out. As he arrived, some of the fans on the beach gathered. Team R&B called the hotline.  No one arrived while they were there.  The seal who they ID'd as big boy RH32 Kaale. He stayed and went into snooze mode.
After their lunch break they went back and Kaale was gone, only people on the beach.
They did see one seal foraging by the outfall and they were able to ID R3CX Nalu.
