6/16/2016 DB's Dailies:

Marilyn found Kaiwi&Pup (D#1) snoozin’ away, mid SPZ. She went off to the mine and I settled in to watch them sleep. At 0800 they began to stir and Kaiwi lead the pup down amongst the rocks at the water line. Just as with yesterday, the pup has a difficult time in the rocks, getting up and over, but Kaiwi was right there issuing instructions. By 0900 they were back to the sand, and a feed/snooze session followed. That is where my shift ended. Mahalos to Jon& a trainee, Karen R., Gayle & Barbara Fields. Thanks too also Kai East for her usual excellent talent.

At 1036 I found weaner Kala at 1BS, the same U/M at right Middle Cliff, and Cass (RG06) , 80 ft right of 3BS on Rabbit Island.

At 1115 posse members Tammy & Dave checked in from the end of the world. I found RIP (RR70) & Ka’ena (RO40) at Ka’ena Point.

On their way back to civilization they stopped off for a little quality time with Nihoa& Pup (R912), at Mokuleia.

That was not the only news from the Nihoa front. In Yesterday’s News, Lesley M., sent shots of Nihoa & Pup along with visitor RW02 (6-15-16).

This afternoon Diane Gabriel wrote, advising that she’d had an interesting Mokuleia shift, with multiple visits to the pup sight by Luana (RN58) each time being run off by either the pup or Mom. She also advised that Tracy & Mike vaccinated Luana.
