6-21-11 DB Dailies

On my first look at Rabbit Island, from Makai Pier at 0637 I found M&M (R020) and pup, on D#28, just hauling out the the mid Middle Cliff area on Rabbit Island. This marks the furthest left, they have moved so far. They remained there all day, doing a late afternoon swim session off shore of that location, and returning to the same location.

On my 0711 Spitting Cave check I found Buster (RV08) doing 8 to 11 minute dives. When I got back to Makai Pier (rain delay) at 1026 I found Duke (RA12) draped over rocks on the flats at the left end of Rabbit Island. Also at 1026 I found RIP (RR70) on the far left end of the beach.

At 1124, Kolohe (RW22) would haul out to the left end , and immediately galumphed toward RIP. RIP would responded and Kolohe backed off. Ultimately, Duke,Kolohe and RIP would interact, and do a swim session together. All would haul out to the left end of the beach, and spend the rest of the day in snooze mode.

On a pan at 1205 I happened to find Sadie (RB12) just moving down from her hiding spot behind the Morning Glory, 50 ft left of 1BS. She would move down and immediately enter the water. She would haul out again in the afternoon at 1441, tucking herself into side of the driftwood log, 60 ft right of 3BS, where she remained the rest of the day.

Dana called at 0714 to advise of an U/U animal in Ewa Beach. The Billands arrived at 0941 to find nobody. A witness said the animal had departed 15 minutes prior to their arrival.

Dera called at 0940 to advise that posse member Karen Turner was responding to a reported animal at Malaekahana on the North Shore. Karen's photos confirmed R5AY.

Dera called at 1254 with word that a caller from Ka'ena Point had sighted 761,and an U/U at KP.

Team Billand called at 1054 with the report of Makaiwi (R4DF) at Electric Beach, across from Kahe Power Plant. At 1446 Team Billand reported Pohaku (R028) at Secret Beach, KoOlina.
At 1520 the Billands called to advise that their posse member, Clay had called them about an animal at Iroquois Point. When they arrived at 1614 they found Rocky (RH58).

Sorry for the layout but for some reason I was having problems with the blog and had to use an old editor which took longer and doesn't allow me the flexibility of changing the size and moving pics around. OY! this is not my week for technology. ~da blog lady~
