The rest of the day was spent with Kermit. Thanks to the Meese, the Billands and NOAA personnel D. Schofield, Charles, Chad, and Dr. Bob, (Oh yes, and Charles parents also). At 0805 SB posse member Mike, called to report an animal off shore at SB. When I arrived I saw that it was Kermit, and called the troops. We spent the rest of the day watching Kermit lazily cruise from Sandy Beach to Blow Hole, several times, and then move to Crappy Cove, then Irma's and then AD's. Dr. Bob had to leave at 1600, and the rest of the NOAA crew left then also. I remained until 1630, but lost Kermit at AD's. I did a late MP check of RI, and then called it a day at 1700.
The Billands reported R018 at Maili Point at 0801.

Everyone worked hard on this Kermit Rescue Day. Even Kermit tried to haul in many times, in different areas. People, just too many people around! The Rescue team hung out all day long, DB went up and down the coast, keeping an amazing eye on Kermit the whole day. He never stopped trying, those Eagel Eyes stayed focused every minute! It was pretty cool how we all worked together all those long hot hours in the sun! That seal almost hauled in at SB, right before us, but those beach goers were stubborn and interfeered with Kermit. How sad humans just don't get how important this Hawaiian Monk Seal IS. They didnt get, Kermit needed to come a shore to be dehooked. I want all you other volunteers to know, DB is truly an amazing soul. He gives 110% of his efforts every single day. THis man never stops!!! That Rescue Team..wow..they are so cool in all they do. It is truly an honor to work along with each of these hard working people. I have the ut most respect for you all. Too bad Kermit never got dehooked that day.
