At 0750 I found Kolohe (RW22) in the grass, 70 ft right of 3BS, and yesterday’s Unk A/F, 75% molted, 40 ft left of 1BS. Both would remain all day.
From 0850 until 1050 Makai Pier was the playground for 4 seals. The only one I can prove is Mojo (RI17) by his NB on his head. The others ranged from quite small (probably Kawena, though I have no shots of her), a juvenile sized animal, and one more that was larger. They were in play mode and ranged from the pier to Cockroach Cove and back. Getting shots was near impossible but a few did come out. At the end I was seeing only two (a big one & a smaller one). Four animals would begin to haul out to RI starting around 1050 thru 1145.
At 1050 the same J/M that has been around of late, hauled out at Seal Rock Inlet. He would be joined at 1145 by Kawena (RH36).
At 1102 a possible J/M , Unk hauled out fronting 3BS. I was unable to make an ID.
At 1109 an A/M hauled out to 1BS, in the general area of the molting female but there was no connection at all.
A Sandy Beach posse member called at 0926 to advise that Buster (ID by tag) was at the east end of SB. I called the Hotline. They had already received a call, and some one was on the way. I stopped by around 1415, and sure enough it was Buster (RV08). He has begun his molt, in the throat area (2%) but the ventral side looks ready to go.
Barbara and Tracy did the Ka’ena Point trek today, but first stopped at Makua Cliffs at 0941 to get an N20 bleach on RL42. At the point they found Squinty (R330) just being run off by the adoring hordes, and Ka’ena (RO40). Tracy got an N9 bleach on him.
Team Billand had begun my day at 0635 with their report of a 100% molted Benny (RE74) at Secrets.
An Anissa text this morning brought news & photos of Nani (RK60) at MCBH.
