April 27, 2019 (part 2) Lesley's Ka'ena Point Update and The Sunset Update

After a very longtime the Saturday group managed to get together and go out to monitor Ka'ena.
I had checked the beaches from CE to the gate before we started, alas our first seal sighting was RO40 "Ka'ena" at the entrance of his pool. From there I spotted a seal on the Runway. He was IDed: RW02 "PVKauai". From there I saw a white seal on the outer reefs of the Main Pool and told the girls it was R366 as we made our way I noticed the rock next to him was a seal. As we got to Main Beach both IDs were confirmed R366 and R3CU.

At the point we saw a flock of Noddies on one of the rock islands. I had seen their trails but not yet seen them this season.

The park was quiet all morning, we noticed more people heading in on our way out. We did some outreach along the way.

Not sure what was with the dogs today but I had to deal with 7 of them.  Out of 5 owners, 4 were extremely polite and apologetic and 1 was defensive. That one had 2 very small dogs off leash and running around barking on the Main Beach of the NARS - she was reported. The others, weren't in the NARS but in the park some on leashes others not. As soon as outreach was made with them ALL owners took their dogs out of the park.   More tomorrow ðŸŒº

Kimo & I went for our evening sunset walk and found RK36 Kauai Kolohe on Birth Beach. While watching him he turned over and rolled himself into the water and just stayed there rolling in small waves
