April 2, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand.

Just before 9 am Team Billand found RW02 PvKauai at a westside beach hauled out. He was alone on lower rocks snoozing the morning away.  They got a call there were two seals in the area, so they left RW02 for now.

Team Billand call came stating there were two seals swimming, one was trying to land but people on shore were preventing it so the seal headed out. Team Billand arrived just before 11 am when they spotted one seal foraging. They spotted a large cookie scar on left side thinking maybe it was Pohaku.  (but reported as an UU) Then they spot another smaller seal swimming in the shallows, going back and forth. The little one pops its head about the water, Team Billand see a large cookie bite healing. As the seal gets closer to the rocky area they determined it was RG28 Pohaku's boy.
He looks for a spot to land, goes inland in a small rocky area. He rests for five minutes, but he kept looking up at the rocks. RG28 is flipping over showing his belly and scars, then he just leaves to go foraging again.

On their last visit to the area they found three seals. RW02 PvKauai was still in the same spot snoozing the day away on his own.
Above him are Ka'ale RH32 and RIP RR70 both snoozing side by
side in a little pond. Their tags were visible and they are on lower rocks.

But their day wasn't quite over, as they were driving home, Rob spots a seal so they stopped to investigate. It was Kawena RH32 eastside girl sleeping on the rocks. She was alone, her applied bleach was visible. She was getting splashed from the rising tide but continued to rest.
