April 11, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Lesley, Team Billand, Team T&D and Team D&T.  LOL confused?   Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.  Team T&D is Tammy and Dave and Team D&T is Darlene and Todd our Canadian Posse!

Our posse from Canada Team D&T walked the beach this morning about 10:30 am and was happy to find Kaiwi RK96 sleeping peacefully. A few minutes later our pal Gayle showed up and they had a chance to catch up (I love when this happens).
Team D&T went back at 4 pm and again at 6:30 Kaiwi was still sleeping on the beach.

Team Tammy and Dave (T&D) hiked Ka'ena Point today without Lesley, although they were probably out there close to the same time. Team T&D spotted Squinty R330 on the rocks in the main pool and RW02 PvKauai on the runway, not to mention watching the albatross doing their mating dance.

Team Billand was out at 7 am and didn't find any critters at the outfall. They looked over to the other side and see a seal going along the coast line in the Ka'ena direction. They lost sight of the seal after 15 minutes.

At 10 am two seals were spotted on the rocks at a westside beach. There was Kekoa Alii RK72 high and dry but Kalani RN14 most likely just hauled in as he was all wet. The boys had a few words, Kekoa moved away to the right hiding himself. Kalani settled down but then there was another seal coming in from the west. The seal was moving at a fast clip, and at first Team Billand thought maybe there was something wrong. But no, it was just our favorite butthead Ka'ale RH32.
Ka'ale immediately hauls up next to RN14 and the fun begins. First there are words, then a kiss, then they both enter the water for some long lasting play.  Meanwhile Kekoa is still there snoozing.

After a while N14 hauled up from the back and spots Kekoa, but head to the right and is looking down. Team Billand can hear vocalizing, it's Ka'ale he's in the lava tube.  N14 and Ka'ale argue for a while, N14 poking his snout at Ka'ale in the lava tube, not letting him come up.  RN14 enters the lava tube and both are now in there vocalizing.

Before heading out to Ka'ena west they found RIP resting alone.

Team Billand did the Ka'ena West and found R3CU and RL42 Leia at the 40. They were in the same spot as yesterday.
Then Team Billand spotted another critter much smaller. RK88 Puna looking brownish green. He never really moved while they were there just resting comfortably.
Looks like there is construction going on they're fixing poles.
