April 25, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Team D&T (Darlene & Todd) and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part 2 of the dailies.

Our Canadian posse team checked the SE side today but came up empty, until they got home and looked over their lanai at the condo. There was Kaiwi swimming by, they watched and though she might haul out but an over enthusiastic human started yelling seal seal !! Kaiwi continued on and when Team Billand walked down to see if she was there, another human decided to get too close and scare her off.   (between Team D&T and I we can hear all the colorful names DB would be using right about now).

Team Billand found G28 at 7:25 am. He was already on the rocks alone, tags barely visible.

At 10:20 am Team Billand did Ka'ena west and found RW02 PvKauai . He was hard to see which was good and he was still there at 3:15 after their trek.
Team Billand's next find was at Ka'ena Point where they found Ka'ena RO40 snoozing at the runway. His N9 applied bleach, transmitter were all visible. Team Billand met up with posse pal Tammy and volunteer Susie.

At 11:30 am while Barb was doing the Ka'ena trek, Robert spotted RIP RR70 at yoks. He was still there in the afternoon when they were heading out for the day.

Barbara found RL42 Leia at Ka'ena West, she was resting all by herself looking plump and happy. She was still there alone on their way out of Ka'ena Point enjoying her freedom from the boys today.

While at the point Barbara spotted a silver seal and there was R366
hiding on the edge of rocks by the main pool. At 2 om the seal finally moved up on the rocks and Barb could see R366 markers. Big scar on inner side by right fore flipper, missing digit on RFF. Left foreflipper bleached, cookie scare on left side of body.

Leaving the area, they made a sudden stop and there was a UU doing a swim by at yoks. The only clue was a small scar by its eye.  Moved too fast to make an ID.
