5/18/2018 Today & Yesterday's Update from Lesley:

Today's Update 5/18
Before heading out to the point I did a quick stop to check the divided playpen.
RN58 "Luana" & PO4 D20 were sleeping at the far side of their new pen.
RL42 "Leia" & PO5 D14 were having a cool swimming session.

Half way to the point I checked Hidden Beach, tide has been very low the last couple of days. I saw an unusual shape and went around to look at it. RG40 "Holokai" had possibly overnighted due to the wallows and trails above high tide line.

At the point RW02 "PVKauai" was on the Runway where we had seen him yesterday.
RR70 "RIP" was just hauling out on Back Beach

All seals were reported individually to the Hotline (with exception of Mom's & Pup's)

YESTERDAYS REPORT
After checking the now divided playpen where RN58 "Luana" & PO4 D19 were having a fun deep water swimming session on one side and RL42 "Leia" & PO5 D13 were having a nursing session I went out to the point.

On my way I saw RW02 "PVKauai" and RO40 "Ka'ena" on the Runway. I met with team T&D we did some outreach, hanged around than did a walk around to check for possible trash removal sites.

Back at the point some visitors with whom we had done outreach, told us about a third seal. As we hiked towards the Runway looking for it we noticed that "Ka'ena" was no longer on the reef, then we saw a seal in the pool beside "PVKauai" shortly after we noticed another seal in the pool. Turns out the seals were RR70 "RIP" and RO40 "Ka'ena".

We watched them, there was no big interaction but some vocalizing. The three seals left in different directions.

The albatross chicks were banded yesterday - we got to see "Chicky II" show off it's new bling

On our way back we checked the playpen again, and I did a late afternoon visit. We arrived after swimming sessions and just saw the seals nursing and sleeping
