4/12/18 Monk Seal Dailies:

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Team T&D, Gayle and Vicki.

Team Billand hit the trifecta today on the west side. They had THREE critters, Rip RR70 and Ka'ale RH32 were sleeping together on the rocks. Kalani RN14 was to the left of them alone snoozing.
Team Billand stayed a bit, until a couple in a nearby car got into a heated argument, so they left the site.  There were two NOAA trucks in the area.

Team Billand headed out to Ka'ena Point from the west side and first found the voluptuous RL42 resting alone.   On their last check, another seal joined RL42 and the argument began. RW02 PvKauai  was there and being the smart dude that he is backed off. He turned over and lay next to RL42, both their tags were showing.

Team T&D trekked Ka'ena Point from the north side. They found Ka'ena RO40 and R3CU on the rocks in the main pool. They did move closer to each other and had some limited interaction.
Ka'ena left the main pool and R3CU followed. They had some words and then both settled in the water.

Team T&D's next find was sweet Lei Ola RH48 on the rocks. The tide started to come in so she moved more inland. Hook is still there and doesn't seem to be bothering her in anyway.

Along with the flipper critters there were lots of feather friends flying about. Lots of albatross around, and some of the chicks are getting their adult feathers.

Posse pal Vicki was on the east side checking in on Mom & PO1.  When she first got there mystery mom and pup were far apart, then they headed towards each other.  Mom turned over and looked like maybe it was snack-time, but noooooo, this kid headed for the water without Momma.  Not being able to see so clearly Vicki could only hope Mom hadn't dosed off, but soon enough the baby was busted and Mom went for it.  Whew a nail biter for Vicki.

Gayle checked in on Rabbit Island too and she finally spotted PO1. When she got home and checked on her photos it appears it was meal time.

Gayle also spent time with Right Spot R016 today. Volunteer Ella and Gayle were on site until 19:00. Right Spot remains with surfer friends keeping an eye on her.
