4/8/2018 Monk Seal Dailies:

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Lesley and Marilyn.
I am sure many of you are hoping for more news who is PO1s  Momma, but unfortunately due to weather conditions made visibility difficult. We have no new information on an ID, but we do know Mom and PO1 were out there today, the kid was hidden behind mom showing off its flipper from time to time. Stay tuned.\

Back to our regularly scheduled dailies Team Billand first find was at a Leeward Beach. They were shocked to find Kekoa Alii RK72. He is back from where ever he ran off to, hmmm maybe he was visiting Molokai, or Kauai. Last time they saw him was at the beginning of March, and then he took off. He is big and healthy, there might be a gash on his chest/neck area where they noticed some "pink". He slept through the day on high rocks and seem fine. So happy to see Ewa Girls son back again.

Team Billand only other find of the day was when the trekked out to Ka'ena from the west side.  On the way out they found Lei Ola RH48. She was alone snoozing on the rocks and her hook is still visible. They walked further but there were no more animals and on this dark, humid day it wasn't worth going further, not to mention it was drizzling rain and the trails were muddy and disgusting.

Here is Lesley's Update:
As I was leaving the house early this morning I saw a familiar shape down on CE Pt, I drove down to check and found RW02 "PVKauai" - he is still there as I write my reports this evening.
I went out in the park twice today but only on the second one did I make it to the NARS. On Back Beach RR70 "RIP" was near the waterline.
There were many trails and wallows , perhaps more than one seal overnighted. It was late and it started raining so I headed back out.
After yesterdays skunk it was nice to see seals today.
For the last 3 days there has been many juvenal albatrosses at the point. They are in groups of four or more and there's a lot of whistling and chants going on. The chicks are getting big and are wondering out around their nests.
