10/25/2017 Monk Seal Dailies (Part 1)

Today's Dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Posse Pals Tammy, Gayle and Lesley. Lesley's full report and photos are in the following post.

Team Billand found RE74 Da Benny at White Plains today hidden in the rocks that they nearly missed him at 6:55 am. They put up signs early as no one from the cabins were out and about yet.  As folks started to come out from the cabins, excited, one child asked if the seal came up yet, and another person called out he's right in front of you. Alas Da Benny was awake. At 7:45 am Da Benny took off heading straight out. (but Barb the real question is did he pee before he left?)

Team Billands next find was an U/U foraging off of Campbells doing 6 minutes dives. The tide was rough, wave after wave, seal was seen in between to get an ID shot. We know who it is NOT; not Benny, not Pohaku, not Ka'ale. Has a greenish face, clean, maybe a small spot on its shoulder blade, mid section.

Posse Pal Tammy covered a lot of ground today, she did Ka'ena Point hike solo and found Ka'ena RO40 and brother RIP RR70. Tammy got a great shot of Ka'ena's damashi lure.
After her trek to Ka'ena Point she met up with Hubby Dave and they hit up the east side and found Buster at Sandys. From there they headed over to Kaupo Beach park met up with Posse Pal Gayle and Right Spot. Looks like Right Spot was watching over Makai Pier.

Gayle was with Right Spot and noted so much rubbish on the beach and water, (this is what happens when with these big swells).  At one point Right Spot moved so that she was close to the highway but she was safe and no need to worry. Gayle also sent us a video of her (always nice to see them in action).

I enjoyed the video alot, Right Spot looks so relaxed. Not a care in the world, looking over DB's Makai Pier. I let the sand run through my fingers as I gaze at the ocean, relaxing myself.

Great DAMASHI shot of the feathered hook in Kaena's mouth.

As for the west end, where are all the seals lately? There is a change in the air, weather wise, waves are BIG and Beautiful, getting dark EARLY, THERE IS A CHILL IN THE AIR. Finally cooler weather!!!!!
