11-2-2012 DB's Dailies

Today was one of those rare days with nobody visible at Rabbit Island. Nobody that is except 1 Bad Guy who arrived at 0914 via Stand Up Paddle Board. DOCARE was called at 0915. The guy explored the island , end to end, and also hiked to the rim of the cauldera, stepping into 9 Wedgie burrows on the way up and down. He departed at 0953 and was met and cited by DOCARE Officer Lee at Makai Pier.

At 1006 Dera called with the report of an animal at Sandy Beach. When I arrived at 1013 I found, and cordoned off Buster (RV08) at the usual east end location. He has remained the rest of the afternoon.

At 1129 Jack & Yuri reported the arrival of an animal at the left end of Hanauma Bay. When I arrived at 1040 I found Irma (R010). We cordoned her off, and she has remained the rest of the afternoon. Thank You Jack........Ya' Done Good........AGAIN !!.

Dera called at 1308 to advise that Joy Silver had confirmed RI37 at 3 Tables , on the North Shore.

Also on the 1308 call Dera advised that Debbie had reported an animal at Makaha, with a possible wound. Dana responded and at 1430 confirmed that it was Kermit (R012), with a new, partial Cookie Cutter wound, mid body ventral.

The Billands checked in at 1600 and confirmed the info, and also advised that Kermit had just departed. He had last been seen on 10-2 (by the Billands) at White Plains. The new CC wound is a pretty good indication that the boy has been off island , probably Kauai again. Welcome home Kermit !

At 1525 Diane Gabriel called to advise that she and Karen Turner had trudged Turtle Bay, and had found RL54 in the shallows on the Kahuku side of the point, and on the way back found La'akea (RK82) at "the elbow".

In the Yesteday's News department, Zeeny sent photos of yesterday's trek to Ka'ena Point . There she encounted Ka'ena (RO40), who appears to be beginning his molt, Kerby (RW08), Noa (R6FI), and RL42. Unfortunately, it appears that RL42 has sustained two new wounds to her upper lip. The one on the left side may be a small fish hook, but the evidence is inconclusive at this point. Tracy says the pros will try to get out there Monday. Meanwhile Lesley and Marilyn are doing the trek tomorrow, so hopefully, we can get more information. Thank You Z
