11-12-12 DB's Dailies: and more

The day was coming to an end, and it appeared as though I was gonna' be skunked here in the SE Quadrant. That would all be changed, on a technicality with a call from Dera at 1623. She advised of a call reporting Kaiwi (RK96)being seen in the water, approximately 100 yds off shore of Makapuu Point. She had been identified by tag. Since I'd found nobody all day, I thought I'd make a pass just in case Kaiwi might have been on her way back to RI. I didn't find her, but out of left field came Irma , whom I found amongst the other Irma sized rocks at the far right end of Makapuu Beach, at 1700. There was nobody anywhere near her, and the beach was well on way to clearing out at the end of the day. I decided to do nothing to draw attention to her. She was still there at dark.

Team Billand checked in at 0733 with the report of Kermit (R012) at Wind Sock.

They would call again at 0944 to advise that Ewa Girl (RS00) had hauled out to join Kermit. She departed at 1230.

At 1020 the Billands found M&M (R020) fronting #1707, White Plains.

At 1432 they reported Noa (R6FI) at Maili Point.

Dana called at 1114 with the report of an animal at Secret Beach, KoOlina. The Billands would make the Pohaku (RO28) ID at 1545.

Dera sent shots, of KC (RK28) in Laie, and RI37 at 3 Tables today.

Zeeny sent shots of her KP trek yesterday, showing a 5% molted Ka'ena (RO40), a slick Kerby (RW08) , and the best shots so far of the left side of RL42's mouth. I've blown them up to study them closely, and I still believe there is something in her muzzle, just above the lip. I've forwarded the shots to Tracy. Hopefully, a professional eyes can be dispatched to clear this up, do something , if required.

Vera Cober emailed the news that Wild Hawaii, an Animal Planet show will be shown Tuesday and Wednesday this week. It was done by a British crew who spent time with our Monk Seal family.

Airings will be on Ch#1329 Tuesday at 1600 / 1900 / 2300. On Ch#329 at 1900 / 2200.

On Wednesday it will repeat on Ch#329 at 1400.

Yippee...the three day weekend is OVER!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to the volunteers who came out to help with the three seals out in the swq.

Tom and Adrea took the watch with M and M white plains.

Jan and Matt Dillon took care of Pohaku out at Secrets along with Linda S. AND...a film crew out at KoOlina for Hawaii Five O...got to see the stars...cool.

We were taking care of Kermit at Windsock...I decided to make a sand sculpture of two seals hugging. After that, I moved down to the other end and out of no where, after much looking...there popped out Ewa Girl. Man she is a FAT, gorgeous female, Legendary!

KERMIT was snoozing on the left end of Windsock, never saw...Ewa Girl come in on the reef. Close to 10:59am Ewa girl got washed off the reef, so she headed towards the middle of the pond...SHE SNORTED SO LOUDLY, scared the hell out of us and ....it woke up the snoozing Kermit. HE jumped up, growling, whooping, then went from zero to sixty towards Ewa Girl, with his head above water, like he was THRILLED SHE WAS THERE. Ewa Girl, stopped, started fighting with Kermit to show him...buzz off fat boy!!!! Kermit was stunned. He then backed off, but still right near her. He made several attempts to be closer to her..we all know what he wanted...

Every time a set of waves came in it would roll Kermit close to Ewa Girl and she would pound out Kermit. After an hour of this, Kermit began to toss his head in the air, moaning and groaning, slowly making his way to his original spot. He looked back at Ewa Girl to see if she would follow, NAH...Kermit made his way to the sandy spot and moaned some more, then went to sleep. Miss Ewa Girl silently swam out to sea and was gone for the day. WOW...we never saw Ewa Girl act that way...she was super strong, she ment business

, and KERMIT that poor smuck, was sulking...I loved this episode with two awesome seals. I couldnt wait to see what was going to happen.

Robin and her husband and kids came to relieve us, so they got to see some of the action. Thanks for coming guys.

I want to ask if any one has seen the old seal...2AW any where. Usually he comes around this time of year to molt...havent seen him in a while. Or...any one see R018??? He is due out on Oahu also. He was the male seal who got the cookie cutter shark bite on his face. Its funny, how i get this urges of seeing the seals at a certain time of the year...

Ok, time to head out to DA BEACH...
