3-31-2013 DB's Dailies: Sadie&Pup(D#18), U/M@RI, RIP@SC, Benny@Makaha,Noa&Kerby@Maili Pt

Happy Easter to All ! At 0657 I found Sadie & Pup (D#18), doing a feed in the Morning Glory, 40 ft left of 1BS on Rabbit Island. It would prove to be the last time I saw them, in full view until they hauled out for another feed at 1349. The intervening hours were spent out amongst the rocks at the Waimanalo end of RI. I'm sure there are water sessions going on that I just can't see, and I got glimpses of them hauled out to the rocks near the water through the day, but it was only partially visible.

At 0921 on a pan I found an U/M with 2 red tags, out on the right end rock flats, 200 ft right of RRB, on RI. I was never able to get an ID on this male. I believe in my little bald heart that it was most probably Buster, since he has been out there lately, but he just never allowed me a chance to confirm that belief. As the tide began to rise at 1412 he moved up behind rocks, and there was no hope of getting an ID . Tomorrow ????

At 1020 posse member Susan called to report an animal at SC. There had been no one there on our earlier check. Marilyn responded and took lots of photos. Those shots confirm RIP (RR70). He had last been seen at WP on 3-27-13. His last visit to this side came on 6-28-12. It's nice to have my first born son back home.

Team Billand reported a foraging Kermit (R012) off shore of the Nimitz Jetty at 0840, but on their 1100 recheck he was no longer there, and was not reported again today.

At 0939 the Billands reported Benny (RE74) at the Makaha Princess Condos.

The Billands found Noa (R6FI) and Kerby (RW08) at Maili Point.

I recieved no other reports today.

3-30-2013: DB's Dailies: Sadie&Pup(D#17),RM38&Kolohe@RI, Kaiwi@SC, M&M@WP, UU@PC, Kermit@KR, Ka'ena,Noa&Kerby@KP

At 0652 I found Sadie&Pup(D#17) in the Morning Glory, 30 ft left of 1BS on Rabbit Island. When I got back to the pier at 0814 they had moved out amongst the rocks at the Waimanalo end of the island, and I was only able to get the occasional glimpse of one or both through the entire day. They hauled out, 80 ft out on the left end rock flats for a feed at 1214. It was to be my only decent look at them for the day.

At 0700 I found what would prove to be RM38, and Kolohe (RW22) together up in the Morning Glory, fronting 1BS, on RI. When I got back at 0814, Kolohe had moved to the water front rocks of Rocky Right Beach, where he remained all day . M38 would remain at 1BS until his departure at 1207.

At 1309, Spitting Cave posse person, Christian called with the report of "N19" to the right of the big rock. When I arrived at 1340 I confirmed the Kaiwi (RK96) ID, doing 6 minute dives.

At 1029 Vera Cober called with the report of an animal fronting #1708, White Plains. She confirmed the M&M ID, but N23 bleach at 1150.

At 1032 Dana called with the report of an animal at Paradise Cove. Pohaku would be my guess, but I've received no further confirmation. photos from Sue Rakes sent in later, see next post.

At 1105 Vera called with the report of Kermit (R012) at Kermit's Reef. ID was by his N4 bleach. Dana calledat 1728 to advise that Kermit had relocated to Nimitz Cottages.

Marilyn checked in from the end of the world at 1109 reporting that she,Lesley,Ken, et.al., had found Ka'ena (RO40), Noa (R6FI)&Kerby (RW08), all together on the same rock at Ka'ena Point.

3-29-2013 DB's Dailies:

At 0656 I found Sadie & Pup (D#16) (RB12) doing a feed on the Waimanalo end of Rabbit Island. They would spend the majority of the day out of my line of sight amongst the left end rocks, though I did get glimpses of a swimmable water session. They would finally haul out and into full view at 1314, did a feed, and hit the snooze button.

Marilyn called at 0834 with the report of Rocky (RH58) on the small sand area at the Kaiser Estate dock at the Kokee Flats. She would depart of her own volition at 1006. My guess would be that she probably arrived at KK late yesterday, probably at the other end, and then moved to the sand area when the tide washed her off the rocks. That has been her usual practice in the past.

On a pan at 1012 I found Aukai (RL12) at the back of Rocky Right Beach on RI. She had no doubt been there all along, and I just happened to look at the right place at the right time. She would later move down and remained all day.

At 1230 RM38 hauled out fronting 1BS on Rabbit Island. It was good to see the boy again. His last RI visit came on 1-25-13. Those Molokai girls have definitely changed his life.

At 0721 Dana called to advise of KC (RK28) in Hauula.
