Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:20 to 2:10 pm and there were only two seals seen during that time. Marilyn noted that she did not knowingly seen any of the 2025 weaners today.
At the back of LPB was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, older coat with some green and dark circles around the eyes, greenish yellow female belly, at least one tag probably two.
Among the waterfront rocks down from the 1BS was an UnknownSub-adult: small sub-adult size, two red tags, newer coat, unsure of its sex. The U/S just seemed to let the waves move it around in the waterfront rocks. Marilyn thought it would move up shore but it never did.
Team R&B first stop was at Pokai and didn't see any seals. There were lots of people out some folks walking their dog around.
Although there were no seals there were lots of dolphins. They saw the tagged dolphin, one with a scared fin, and babies! There was a black raft out there with a guy taking photos with a large lens. Maybe they looking to tags more dolphins.
On the rest camp side they saw a seal foraging. The seal had a clean coat and was alone, they ID'd Lei Ola RH48. She never landed.
Next stop they went to check on R604. She was on shore where there were lots of folks out and about, some of them too close. Team R&B noted she looked thin and tired today. Poor thing has been disturbed for the last two weeks, maybe she need to find a better spot and fill her belly on the way.
Then they saw people running with their cell phones in hand yelling seal! There was a seal coming in heading to R604. It was upsetting to them that the people didn't back away for RH32 Kaale to haul out. They asked people to back away but only a dad moved the kids. Kaale gave up and left heading towards Kahe.
Since Kaale was heading east, Team R&B hurried over to the next spot. They saw Kaale pass by the people yelling in the water. Just as Team R&B got to the rocks there was RH32 landing. After he hauled out, Team R&B called it a day. It can be stressful with all the people out on the beaches with the seals trying to haul out to rest.
Even the Mynah birds were having a hard time out there on the crowded beaches.
