4-2-2014 Lesley's Ka'ena Point Monitoring

As soon as the all clear was given I headed out to Ka'ena Point and it was a seal of a day ;)

Beautiful weather and only a handful of visitors adventured out today. The tide was very low showing reefs not frequently seen made me wonder all the way who and where would I see seals today. The ocean was choppy and there was no noticeable surge from the Chile earthquake.

RO40 "Ka'ena" and RW30, the pretty and very plump Molokai girl ( it's the first time I see her on a flat surface) were hauled out at the very end of the Runway. When I checked back on them on my way out RO40 "Ka'ena" was starting to get wet by the rising tide.

RW02 "Kauai PV" and RW22 "Kolohe" were just entering the Main Pool. There was a little interaction while both hauled out on the center reef and went to sleep.

What a treat to see RW22 "Kolohe", he is SO big !!  When he was born I spent many, many hours monitoring him and  RK28 "KC" at the Mokuleia pup site.
While watching them it was interesting to see them both side-by-side showing their NB

On my way out a last look around and there was RL42 (F) at the entrance of Ka'ena's Pool. She swam around checking all corners and chose to haul out (due to low tide pool was very shallow) on the flat reef across the pool. The location was her favorite spot when she was a weaner.

I rechecked all beaches on the way out to Birth Beach /Mokuleia side. There was no sign of RN58 "Luana"  Aloha,  Lesley
