Marilyn made a quick trip to the pier when there was a break in the weather. She was able to view Rabbit Island from 1:22 to 2:09 pm and there seven seals on island seen during that time.
Up in the dunes on the Middle Cliff side of the 3BS was a Weaner Female: weaner size, older coat, female belly and two red tags.
Directly down from the 3BS was a Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, newer coat with light female belly, not sure about tags.
Next on the beach between 3BS and SRI was N32: adult size, newer coat, male belly no info on tags, applied N32 bleach on right hip, scar above right eye,
A short distance from N32 towards SRI and up in the dunes were two adult seals:
Molting Adult Unknown: adult size, old coat, probably at least 40% molted, unknown sex (although Marilyn would guess a male) at least one red tag.
Up from the SRI channel were two seals next to each other:
Sub-adult Female 2: sub-adult size, female belly, at least one red tag.
Nearby was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, older coat, yellow tan ventral, female at least one red tag.
There was a blue kayak next to a broken surg board between 1BS and 2BS. Marilyn never saw any people on the island. But there were more than a dozen surfers on the Lanikai side waves.
Team R&B first find today was R3CX Nalu foraging. They were hoping he would haul out at some point but he continues to forage. Even on a later check he was still out there. They commented he seems to be getting layers of muscle or fat around his neck area.... the monk hoodie lol.
And the rain continues.
They drove to check out different areas and made their way to plains. There were lots of puddles on the roads. There on shore was KG89 Huakai once again.
They just made it back to the car when the skies opened up and another big rain. Not great driving conditions.
Thankfully they made it home safely.
