4-5-2014 DB's Dailies: Kea@BH, Sadie&Pup@RI, R018,RIP&Buster@WP, Haupu@NIM, Pohaku@Nanakuli, Ka'ena,Kolohe&U/F@KP, RK36@Mokuleia, Meli@TB

At 0639 I found an overnighted Kea (RN46), still in the cove on the Sandy Beach side of the Blowhole Lookout. He has remained all day. At 1630 Lesley called from the Hotline, reporting HPD responding to a harassment call at BH. We responded immediately, and found 2 HPB officers near the end of putting up caution tape. We thanked them profusely when the got back up, and will pick up the tape at dark. The difficult part about cordoning him off at that location is the fact that there were many more time the people watching this from BH than would ever have been aware of him for the last two days that he has been there. Kea was spooked off by a flying plastic bag at 1745. Marilyn retrieved the tape.

At 0740 I found Sadie (RB12)&Pup (D#2) at the left end of Rabbit Island. If there was any action it was all on the other side of Mom.

The Billands are back!! At 0716 they reported R018 fronting #1707/08 at White Plains.

At 0736 they found Haupu (RB24) fronting #1701 Nimitz Cottages.

At 0925 they reported the arrival of RIP (RR70) to join R018 at WP. Per volunteer Jean, R018& RIP would depart at 1215, however after a loll in the near shore waters RIP hauled out again to #1708.

At 1420 Ocean Safety reported an U/U at Nanakuli. Team Billand confirmed the Pohaku (RO28) ID at 1514.

At 1723 Team Billand called to advise that Volunteer Trudy had reported the departure of RIP and the arrival of Buster (RV08) to the #1708 location.

Marilyn & Lesley did the usual trek to the end of the world. They found Ka’ena (R040) and the new little U/F at the main pool at 0930. The rising tide made Ka’ena move to Ka’ena’s pool. Kolohe (RW22) would haul out to the main pool at 1100. At 1330 Marilyn reported finding RK36 mid way between the birth beach and Camp Erdman.

Email from Karen Rohter provided a Meli (RF20) from her shift at TB today.
