2-7-2014 DB's Dailies: Kermit,M&M@WP, La'akea,R5AY&Meli@TB, Makaiwi@Maui, KC@MCBH, Pohaku@GR, Haupu@Maili

The report from the SE quadrant is short and sweet.... Nobody , Nowhere. Despite a lot of looking by both Gayle and myself, as well as Jack (at the bay) nobody was ever found. It was nevertheless and interesting day.

At 0643 Team Billand reported Kermit (R012) at Tower#1, White Plains. NOAA personnel arrived at 0753 and Kermit is now sporting a new Critter Cam, and 2 new tags. In addition to his 4DG tag he now has 1KH/1KI tags. He departed at 0902.

Dana called at 1338 followed by Diga at 1353 reporting La’akea (RK82) at Right Spot’s Spot, Turtle Bay. Diane had just finished her R5AY&Meli shift. Both were happy and well.

Also at 1338 Dana reported news from Nicole on Maui, reporting Makaiwi (R4DF) is there.

Lesley called at 1530 to advise that she had forwarded photos of an U/U at North Beach, MCBH. The shots were inconclusive, but suggested a possible KC. I spoke with the caller/photographer Linda DiGiovanni (and daughter, Storme) and got additional shots confirming the KC (RK28)ID. She is sporting some new ventral wounds. Just what she needs.... more scars !

At 1632 Team Billand found Pohaku (RO28) at Maili , Guard Rails Beach.

Team Billands reported a call from Lesley advising that volunteer Andrea had reported the arrival of M&M (R020) at White Plains.

At 1737 the Billands reported Haupu (RB24) in the canal at Maili. With way too many people there, and aware of her, she was heading back out to sea when they sighted her.

My favorite Molokaian, Diane Pike had called yesterday with word of RA20 there. Regular readers will remember this Kauai girl hangin’ out with Kea at Eternity Beach from 12-18-13 thru 12-25-13.

Love the look on Kermit's face as he is going into the water, kind of like get ready here I go.
I sure do hope he finds Irma, have the crittercams recorded other Monk Seals that are around them?
