Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:37 to 1:53 pm and there were seven seals seen during that time.
Near the back Lanikai side of the beach were RH76 Kala and PO11. Marilyn did not see a lot of activity from them today, but both look healthy and the pup is bigger.
At 12:45 pm, Marilyn noticed that one of the weaners (later determined to be RU24) was in a tide pool in the rock flats on the back Lanikai side. Marilyn saw the weaner playing in the tide poolsand mouthing items for over a half hour, but then lost sight of the kid. At 1:31 pm RU24 hauled out on the Lanikai side of the beach and galumphed up to RH76. There was no response from Kala. The weaner soon moved away and ended up hidden behind RK37. RH76 Kala seems much more tolerant of other seals than her older sister RF34 Pua.
In the middle of LPB was RK37 Hali'a. Marilyn thinks she has been the UU reported for the past two days. She has a new coat, light gray female belly and a nb on her rear lower left side. Marilyn did not see her tags, but assumes they are there.
Still on the 1BS side of LPB was RL12 Aukai and her pup PO12. The pup was mostly hidden behind mom, until PO12 headed down to the water. Aukai vocalized and after a while PO12 headed back up to mom and then they both moved up due to the rising tide. Marilyn had seen PO12 behind mom trying to get mom to roll over so she could nurse. Marilyn never observed a nursing session.
Alone on the beach between Middle Cliff and 3BS was female weaner RU38. She was weaner size, shape and coloration, a light female belly and two red tags. Knowing she was the female weaner, the other weaner had to be the male RU24.
Team R&B decided to head west early in the day for a change. They did find two seals on shore atMakaha. It took them a while to make an ID on the male. They were able to ID the female RL98 Lina with her right fore flipper cc scar. She is looking green, but healthy after recently weaning her pup.
Finally they were able to figure out the male was RG40 Holokai. He has no tags, and his bleach on his hind flipper. They don't see these two very often so it was a real treat. The two were resting peacefully.
While watching over these two, Team R&B got to watch some of the surfers out there today.
