June 1, 2025 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:48 to 2:50 pm and initially there were no seals seen when she first started viewing. But there were three humans that have recently landed near SRI. Two of the men spent most the time on the island collecting opihi on the Makapuu end of the island. DOCARE was called and did respond. Marilyn doesn't know anything beyond that.
At 2:07 pm, Marilyn spotted a weaner, later to be determined as PO3, haul out on the beach at Middle Cliff. Marilyn saw his male belly to confirm PO3s ID.
She did not see weaner PO4. Because of the low tide, she could have been offshore or in one of the reef flat tide pools.

Team R&B started their day at pokai, and on their first visit there were no seals.
Then checking again they finally spotted a seal going around the front rocks and to the right. It was searching for a place to haul out. The seal left the area, Team R&B could see it was an adult and thought it could possibly be Kaale RH32.
They waited to see if the seal would return, but it did not.

Suddenly they see a seal splashing about, it was hooked and they could see the line coming from its mouth. They tried to see anything that would give them an ID, the seal had a tag but they couldn't read it. The seal was reeled into the jetty and they lost sight of it, so they waited. A few minutes later the seal came out of the jetty and took off they never saw it again.

A few minutes after the hooking seal left they saw another seal haul up on the rocks to the right. The seal seemed to be agitated. They were able to ID RH32 Kaale, and they went to look to see if he had any gear, hooks or lines. He was very vocal and Team R&B had a good view of his mouth, nothing there. It
was clean, no cuts or blood, no line. So it seems he was not the hooked seal. They also noted Kaale doesn't have tags anymore.

It rained on and off all day on the west side. Team R&B kept looking hoping to find more seals. Finally at cliffs they found one seal in a pond resting. They saw its cc scar on its right side, and showed its tag in the water. There was RP30 Puka all alone. They wonder if he is due to molt soon since he is so green.
