Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island today from 12:26 to 2:54 pm and there was a lot happening on island today. When Marilyn first arrived there were numerous people on island having arrived on 3 kayaks and one SUP. It appears the total number of trespassers was 12. DOCARE was called twice, but in the end Marilyn doesn't know if they responded.
Beyond all the people on island there were 10 seals on island today.
Marilyn noticed at 1:08 pm there were two seals next to each other on the rock flats on the Lanikai side of LPB. Marilyn believes they wereboth adult size. The seal mostly hidden appeared to have a yellow ventral. They were labeled Unknown Adult 1 and Unknown Adult 2. Later they did move further back on the rock flats, but were even more hidden.
MO11 (presumably RH76) and her pup PO11 started out near where they have been between 1BS and 2BS, but during viewing, they migrated in the Lanikai direction and ended up almost directly down from the 1BS. Thankfully they are now on a sandy beach.
Weaner 1 was on the shore between the two moms and their pups, but closer to RL12 and PO12. Weaner 1 never showed it ventral so unsure if its RH24 or RU38.
Down from 2BS was RL12 Aukai and her pup PO12. They appeared to haul out from the shallows soon after Marilyn arrived. She saw PO12 nurse, briefly, but the pup spent much of its time hidden behind Aukai. Both mom and pup seem healthy.
Out of the rock flats on the Lanikai side of SRI were two seals:
Adult Female: adult size, medium gray female belly, two red tags and about 60% molted. Marilyn wonders if this is one of this years moms doing her post pup molt.
Weaner 2 was seen several times in a small inlet in the waterfront rocks not a great distance from the J/M and A/F. Later Weaner 2 galumphed into a tide pool in the rock flats. Just after Marilyn had put the camera away, she saw Weaner 2 making its way toward the J/M and A/F.
On the other side of the island Team R&B were batting zero. They spent their time watching the dolphins and the people that were out celebrating fathers day.
Then they got a call from a friend of a seal hauled out at plains. So they headed over to check it out and were thrilled to see RH48 Lei Ola. She is quite green, putting on some weight and looking fine. There were ropes and signs placed up for her which is always nice to see.
They called it a day to go celebrate fathers day with the ohana.
