09/18/2020 Friday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

Team Billand spotted Ka'ale RH32 at the outfall stealing fish. First he ate by stealing the fish, then he made is way across to a nearby beach.  Ka'ale hauled out and Team Billand went to check on him. They did see a fishing line left side of his mouth, and wrapped around mid body. They never saw any hook, aftere he lifted his head did rub at his mouth and stuck out his tongue, they did not see any hook. The line appears to be a light line.

About an hour later Team Billand checked another nearby location and found Aukai RL12 who had just hauled out. There was someone there taking photos. Aukai's tags were visible.

Kawena RH32 was on the rocks snoozing alone tags were visible.  Apparently there was another critter on site an untagged mongoose.

At 10 am Kawika R407 was hanging out with Aukai RL12.  He was ID'd by cookie scar, line scar, scar on head and no tags. They were both resting peacefully.

At 12:20 Team Billand found RL20 Kalua on lower rocks and then he dove int the water hole. LAter he moved back up on lower rocks where he stayed. His coat is very clean looking amazing. They did see the line in the right corner of his mouth

RK72 Kekoa was near seal inlet on the rocks relazing. He is getting grubby probably getting close to molt.

Last they spotted RL70 Leina, the little girl who likes to hide. Hard to tell but she may be molting by the looks of her hind flipper.
