09/17/2020 Thursday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Team T&D.

Team T&D hiked Ka'ena today. Their first find was Lefty RG28 at 10 minute beach. He is pretty much finished his molt with the exception of a few patches.

Next was RL74 Kami by the runway. They had seen Lesley and she mentioned RW02 had been out there earlier.

RO40 Ka'ena was a back beach. He was snoozing but gone when they were on their way out.

Lastly on their way back RL98 was hauled out on 10 minute beach. Lefty was still there but they were on opposite sides of the beach.

Team Billand found Ka'ale shortly after 7 am. He was on shore alone resting. They watched him for a bit and then headed off to another west side location.

They found three critters all in separate areas. First there was R3CX Nalu on waterfront rocks. There was a fisherman to his left coexisting.

RL20 Kalua was snoozing alone on the rocks way inland.

And then there was Kekoa RK72 had just come in through the seal inlet. He was snoozing in shallow pond. Later he moved on the rocks and kept his eye on the fisherman.   All three seals remain in their spots snoozing.

Team Billand went back to check on Ka'ale and were surprised to find two seals on shore. There beside Ka'ale was R407 Kawika who must of just arrived.

Kawika's was ID'd by thescar on his head, small scar on shoulder and cookie on back with line scar and no tags.

A gentleman came by and let them know the smaller seal had arrived about 15 minutes before, and he drew a line around the seals in an attempt to keep people away.
