At 0708 I found what would prove to be Kaiwi (RK96), 50 ft right of 3BS on Rabbit Island. Mark would get an N19 bleach and girdle across her posterior dorsal (butt).
At 0711 photo tour posse member, Alex called to advise of 2 animals swimming in near shore waters at the Blowhole end of Sandy Beach. While I found nobody when I arrived, I went to the far east end of SB, and there I found Buster (RV08) newly hauled out. Witnesses said there had been a 2nd animal but it continued to swim to the east. I cordoned off Buster and he remained all day. He would depart at 1915.
From the Makapuu Overview, at 0841 I found what would prove to be Mojo (RI17), partially visible at Rocky Right Beach. The ID would later be confirmed by Mark.
At 0848 I found Aukai (RL12), 100 ft right of 3BS. Aukai had a problem today. NOAA has forebidden my commenting , due to investigation, and one must be a good little team player, must'n one. Know that Aukai is healthy and well. Thank you to Tracy, Mark, Sean, Jesse & Michelle for the response. We just keep our fingers crossed that it all plays out....
When I got back to the pier at 0848 I found Kaiwi and Kolohe (RW22) playing off shore of 3BS. Kaiwi would haul out to 50 ft right of 3BS. Kolohe would haul out to Rocky Right Beach, to join Mojo. Mark would later get an "N33" on Kolohe.
Team Billand called at 0707 to report Makaiwi (R4DF) and M&M (R020) at #1707 White Plains. Makaiwi would depart at 1815.

T21M was spotted starting his molt on Jan 12th @ Malaekahana. Since he has been seen on the Mokes, back @ Malaekahana Beach Park, last week for 2 days in a row @ Goat Island. He was then at an estimated 55%.
Yesterday @ Kualoa...
It has been a very slow molt with lots of nautical miles :)
Aloha, Lesley
Just read an article in the Star Advertiser. Female Monk Seal on Rabbit Island that had a spear in head had spear tip removed by authorities! AUWE! What in the world is wrong with Some people?? In light of DB's comments, I am relieved that Aukai is Ok. That is, assuming that Aukai is the one who was speared. SMH....shame on the person that injured the seal!
