1-17-2013 DB's Dailies: Buster,Kaiwi,Nani&Aukai@RI, Kermit,Makaiwi,M&M,Benny@WP, Pohaku@Sec /Rocky@Hale Koa, RL54@TB, R912@Yokes

At 0712 I found Buster (RV08) right where I seen him yesterday, tucked in to the base of the cliff, 100 ft left of 1BS on Rabbit Island. He remained at that location all day. His molt is 15%.

Also at 0712 I found Kaiwi (RK96) up in the grass, 70 ft right of 3BS on RI. Directly below her, at mid beach I found Nani (RK60). Kaiwi would move down to join her at 0803 and after light interaction both entered the water for a swim/play session. Kaiwi would haul out by herself fronting 3BS at 1020. I did not see Nani again today.

On a pan at 0716 I found an animal behind driftwood , 50 ft right of Seal Rock Inlet. This is a known Aukai hangout, and sure enough when she moved down at 0952 it proved to be Aukai (RL12). She remained the rest of the day.

Team Billand called at 0740 with the report of Kermit (R012), at the Snack Bar, and Makaiwi (R4DF) fronting #1708, White Plains. They appeared to have over nighted. The Billands advised that M&M (R020) hauled out at 1411 to join Makaiwi.

They called at 1720 to advise Benny (RE74) had moved in to join M&M and Makaiwi.

Also at 0740 the Billands advised that they were responding to KoOlina to check on a reported entangled animal. Thankfully, when the arrived they found a happy and healthy Pohaku (RO28) snoozin' on the rocks at Secret Beach. There was no entanglement.

Dera called at 0854 with the report of an animal at the Hale Koa, in Waikiki. Dana would call to advise that Karen Rohter had confirmed the Rocky (RH58) ID. I got word that some drunk went inside the barrier and bopped Rocky on the head.

Lesley checked in at 1353 to advise that she and Diane (Diga) Gabriel had trod many a mile, from Turtle Bay to High Rock. They found RL54 at the elbow.

At 0935 the Billands called to say that they were responding to Yokes to check on a fisherman's report of "N9" (Ka'ena), "N8" (Kerby) and an U/U. When they arrived at 1005 fishermen stated that there had been 4 seals, but they actually found on R912.

Speaking of the above cast , I got photos today from Zeeny Mian's trek to Ka'ena Point yesterday (1-16-13). She had found Ka'ena (RO40), Noa (R6FI), and Kerby (RW08) at the end of the world.
