On my first look at Rabbit Island at 0720 I found a trail leading to Left Greenery, a large growth of Naupaka right of 1BS. The bushes were trampled as though an bulldozer had plowed through. I could see nothing else in the junk morning light. Upon my return at 0857 , with improving light I thought there was a large animal in the Naupaka, but it would take until 0905 for what turned out to be Buster (RV08) to move into view on the beach. He would remain there the rest of the day.
At 0857 I would find Kaiwi (RK96) out on the left end rock flats, and Aukai (RL12), 60 ft right of 3BS, on RI. Kaiwi gave me nothing to work with. It would take until 1315 to finally get a glimpse of her remnant epoxy patch, and her natural bleach on her forehead. Both animals would remain at their respective locations the rest of the day.
At 1313 Nani (RK60) hauled out, 40 ft left of 1BS. She would remain there the rest of the day.
At 0742 Team Billand reported Makaiwi (R4DF) at the showers, White Plains, right at the place where everybody rinses their board. Leave it to her to pick just the right spot !
Also at 0742 they found Kermit (R012) fronting #1707, WP.
At 0916 they would report M&M (R020) at Kalaeloa Campgrounds. She apparently departed that location at around 1600. The Billands found her again fronting #1706, White Plains, at 1708 .
At 1204 the Billands found Benny (RE74) at Makaha Beach.
While at Makaha the Billands ran into a lady whom Robert put me on the phone with, reporting that she had seen R5AY yesterday near Goat Island in Laie. She also reported having seen an animal yesterday and again today with a red tag #168", also in Laie. Though I can't prove it, my guess would be that it was a misread RI38 tag, which would be RI37's RHF tag. She has been in that area for some days now.
At 1500 Team Billand found Kerby (RW08) at Maili Point.
