The Rabbit Island cast for today was Ewa Girl & Duke, with RIP as their constant companion, left of 1BS, Kolohe at the right end of the beach, and Sadie, even more to the right end, with a mid afternoon appearance by M&M, at the extreme left end of the beach.

The interaction between Ewa Girl& Duke and RIP was the most interesting aspect of the day. On my first look at 0647, from the Makapuu Overlook (MO) I could see Ewa Girl & Duke in the shallow water off shore of the left end. What would later prove to be RIP was right there with them, and EG and RIP were jousting, with lots of snaps and neck thrusts, however RIP would not get the hint. Ewa Girl just didn't seem to have the energy to effective deal with RIP. This interaction would play out for the rest of the day. RIP was never more than 20 ft away from them, and on several occasions was within 3 ft of Ewa Girl&Duke. His interest was more with Duke than Ewa Girl. There did not appear to be any aggression involved. RIP seems fascinated with the short fat kid. In a few more days RIP will have unlimited access to his new little buddy.

On a pan at 1024 I found Kolohe, newly hauled out to the right end of the beach. At 1125 , once again on a pan, I found Sadie newly hauled out to the extreme right end of the beach. She would later move down to join Kolohe. Her molt of D#3 appears to be approximately 30%.

Colleen checked in at 0935 to advise that Rocky had , once again, overnighted at Diamond Head. I'd like to get a better look at Rocky's belly, but it looks as though she may have begun her molt.
