DB Post Saturday 6/13/2009

On my first look at Rabbit Island at 0636 I found Ewa Girl & Duke doing their morning swim off shore of the left end of Rabbit Island. When I got back to Makai Pier at 0854 they were on the beach and doing a feed. It would be the first of 3 swims and 3 feeds that I would observe today.

At 0854, on a pan I found what would prove to be RIP , partially visible in a tide pool, at the right end of the Middle Cliff area. He would enter the water at 1250, and did a couple of "cruiser male" swims of the entire beach front, but he did not haul out again during my observation period.

On a pan at 1000, I suddenly found Sadie on the beach front, just left of 1BS. She had apparently been hidden from me up behind the left end Morning Glory, until she decide to move down to cool off. She would enter the water at 1129, and I did not see her again until she hauled out to the back of the beach at the extreme left end, at 1515.

Colleen Heyer would check in at 0922 with the report that Rocky had overnighted at Diamond Head.

Team Billand called at 0945 to report that Irma was at Wind Sock, Kalaeloa Beach, with assistance from Team Sparks. Barbara checked in again at 1651 to report that Irma had just departed. Aloha, DB

It was nice to find seal people at Windsock yesterday...The Sparks!!! We were on the hunt, looking for Irma when we ran into Tim and Brenda Sparks. We told them we find Irma out here almost every day, except today. We had gone to White Plains to check, when we got a call from Thea, Sparks report a seal at windsock.Just a few minutes after leaving the Sparks, Irma showed up. We thank the Sparks for being there, other wise we would have missed Irma.
And...to our disappointment The Net is still at Electric Beach!! Hope DOCARE Or DAR gets it out NOW!! Please!! Today makes day 3! That net could entangle our seals or turtles!!!!!!!!!!!!!
