Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:24 to 1:54 pm and it was just the mom and pups today.
MO3 (presumably Sadie RB12) and her pup PO3 were just entering the water on the surge channel side of LPB when Marilyn first arrived. They hauled out about an hour later at 1:20 pm and moved up the shore. PO3 is getting bigger by the day. PO3 was nursing when Marilyn called it a day.
RF34 Pua and her pup PO4 were just hauling out the water when Marilyn first started viewing. Theyhad been out for a swim. PO4 followed Pua up the shore and then played around and seemed to snooze for a while. Later Marilyn could see the pup was nursing behind mom. Marilyn was able to view PO4's ventral today, but still couldn't figure out what sex PO4 is. Perhaps in the next couple of week before we know.
Marilyn made a quick stop and saw a small seal on shore She could only view the critter from above. She did not see the ventral of the seal. The seal does not appear to have tags. When she viewed her photos she was able to see an applied bleach N25 on its dorsal. This little male was given the N25 bleach back on 3/7/2025 and a temporary ID of TempN25. A volunteer was onsite and a SRA was set up.
Team R&B were thrilled to find R3CX Nalu today. He was out in the water foraging like crazy. There were lots of fish, spread out and he was going for all of it. They observed him for over an hour were relieved that there were no hooks, no fishing gear. Seems the boy was able to toss it on his own.
They headed over to Kahe and found two seals on the rocks resting peacefully. The first seal was ID'd as Kalua RL20. He has a fishing line trailing, but they weren't sure what side of his face it was coming from. It was not a heavy line, but it was there. RL20 made his way to visit the other seal, who turnedout to be RH32 Kaale. The boys had words and RL20 left the site. RH32 Kaale snoozed for a bit longer and when he woke up he headed out.
Lastly they spotted a very large seal with a clean coat and two red tags. The seal was foraging off the outfall area. They suspect this is Aukai RL12 but their photos really don't show anything to prove it.
