Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:50 to 2:35 pm and there were four seals seen during that time.
Alone down from the 1BS was a Sun-Adult Female: small sub-adult size, light female belly and two red tags. She moved up and down the beach several times.
We have a Weaner! Marilyn was pretty sure it was PO3, andconfirmed it when she was able to ID RF34 with her pup. Plus she did finally see the weaner's male belly. PO3 was playing in nearshore waters for an extended period. He then hauled out for a while before entering the water. He moved closer to SRI before hauling out again. PO3 is 44 days old today.
RF34 Pua and PO4 had a nursing session near the SRI inlet when Marilyn first arrived. Then PO4 led Pua into the water and later they hauled out behind some waterfront rocks on the RRB of SRI. They then entered the water again and showed up offshore between 3BS and SRI. Then Pua and pup hauled out. Put was very aware of weaner PO3 on shore. When PO3 started moved toward RF34 and PO4, Pua vocalized and sent the weaner scrambling. Poor kid. The weaner playing nearshore for awhile before seeming to mouth something it found in the sand.
Team R&B's first find was at Pokai, They found RM31 Kai at the zen area resting alone. His coat was dry, which made reading his applied bleach difficult and that he probably was there for a while.
They noted the beaches were crazy busy today.
Next they headed to Kahe where they searched around for over an hour. Then they happen to look overto the rocks and there was a seal. It had a cc scar on its left fore flipper area, that's when they realized it wasn't Lefty, it was R416. He doesn't have tags, and when he finally turned on his side they saw his cc scar under his belly. He suddenly was very alert and it wasn't just because the crabs ran over him.
As they were photographing R416, another seal hauled up. The two seals argued for a bit. It was RL20 Kalua hauled up, R416 took a pee, which RL20 seem to not be happy with. RL20 took off, but R416 stayed and went further up on the rocks, Guess he was marking his territory.
While out today Team R&B said a prayer for the military who gave us our freedom. They watched as the jets flew over.
