Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:43 to 2:10 pm and there were five seals seen on island during that time.

When she first started viewing there was a large seal near Pua RF34 and PO4. At first Marilyn thought this might be a pregnant female, but after seeing more of the seal's markers, she decided it was RL08 "Bam Bam Squarepants" based on his large size, pit scars near LFF, above RGG and mid-dorsal and male belly. RL08 then started down the

beach toward the SRI inlet and Pua expressed her displeasure at his presence. RL08 moved into the inlet. But after awhile, he moved back up by Pua and PO4 and rolled over some distance from them. Apparently while Marilyn wasn't watching, PO4 moved up the beach toward RL08 with mom close behind. Either Pua or the pup startled RL08, he vocalized and then headed back into the inlet and left.

PO4 then nursed and snoozed. Pua is looking thin and Marilyn got a reasonable view of PO4's ventral and she still thinks its a female.

In the meantime MO3 and PO3 hauled out down from the 3BS at

12:52 pm. The pup had an extensive nursing session and then moved behind mom. Later Marilyn was able to get a good view of O3's belly and he is a male. That will make it easier when NOAA goes out to the island to identify and tag.

At 1:22 pm, Marilyn found that RL08 had hauled out on the Lanikai side of LPB. She got a better view of him and his abscess which appears to be draining. RL08 may have something on the left side of his face. She did find out that he was reported back in April with a hook on the left side.

Team R&B had yet another slow seal day. They were out all day and the only seal they found was R3CX Nalu. He was at Yoks which is a little out of his normal stops.

Unfortunately the people out there today were obnoxious, in that they feel the need to lay next to the seal or just not give it space. It takes a lot of the joy that Team R&B have for these beautiful seals.

When they first arrived they weren't sure who the seal was, but they went through the files (in their mind). The seal had a tag and that when they knew for sure it was R3CX Nalu.
