December 11, 2019 (part 2) Lesley's Ka'ena Update

From dawn to sunset and moon rise
After a full morning of meetings we finally made it out to the point past 1:00PM.
We met hikers coming out and they said they saw a big seal with a little seal and another small seal.
Turns out we actually had 4 seals
RW02 PVKauai was sleeping among some rocks in an unusual spot at Ka'ena's Pool
RL74 Kami was alone like a little light log on Main Beach
RL98 Lina RL70 Leina were side by side with Lina sleeping on top of Leina hind flippers - they were adorable to see.
Turned out we had a deck of "L" weaner females versus the adult "L" females I had  yesterday.

We got to see the Snow Geese flying back and forth and many Albatrosses nesting.
The big sets were in the 20 ft and washed the Main Pool from side to side, covered the Runway all the way to the wall and up to Ka'ena's Pool. Then water would draw back and the ocean looked calm till the nest set. The Coves would fill to the top and when water recede it made upside down snow with the foam being tossed up in the air.
My kind of day !!    More tomorrow ðŸŒº

when the moon hits the sky like a big pizza pie
