March 21, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.
Just want to point out Team Billand spotted TWELVE seals today, thats more than most seals seen during the official count. LOL

Team Billand was at the outfall before 7 am and while out on the Jetty noticed two seal swimming. The fishermen said they had come into the outfall just before Team Billand arrived. They were unable to make an ID but Barbara is willing to bet it was Ka'ale and Kawena.  The two were heading west when Team Billand decided to leave.

Team Billand arrived at white plains about 8 am and there were no seals so they left. Of course they left and got a call to return as a seal was by the fenceline.  They saw an adult seal, natural bleach on the left rump, lots of scratches. Based on the markings they reported him as Buster V08. The waves came in and surrounded him tossing him about.  The seal left and headed straight out to sea.

Next stop at 10 am was at Nimitz trying to locate Buster again, but instead they met up with Pohaku R028 on shore. There were people out and about some were close, so they took the time to educate and get them to move back. There were some cones and poles on the side, so Team Billand made a make shift zone.
They called the hotline and initially was no answer, they did get a call later, and Team Billand filled in the details. Team Billand left the site at 10:45.

Team Billand arrived to the westside beach and found a total of seven critters there at 11:30 am.  Without a lot of detail and explanation, the list of critters are as follows: RW02 PvKauai, RK72 Kekoa, RH48 Lei Ola, RN14 Kalani, R3CU, RH36 Kawena and RG28.   That is some seal party!

Last critter of the day was at Paradise Cove, Team Billand arrived just before 4. There was a seal with
signs up but no ropes. The beach was crowded, Team Billand called the hotline and reported RW22 Kolohe. Again there was no answer, and they left a message.
The PC luau is going to start soon and Kolohe moved up higher on the beach. Robert was quick to act and moved the signs. They waited around, talked with some folks about Kolohe.  Kolohe is a big boy fat and handsome. His applied bleach and natural bleach marks were visible.   They did what they could and then left the park, but not before seeing the Boobie sitting on the rocks.
