March 15, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team Billand.  Somewhat of a quiet day, but not a boring one!

Todays cast of characters were predominately all hanging out out at one location through out the day.
Team Billand at their usual westside beach check first found RN14 Kalani at 8:25 am. He was up first and right behind him was another seal coming in. They were able to ID RW02 PvKauai who was right behind Kalani.
At 9:50 am they spotted a little seal coming in first who was later ID'd as RG28. All his cookie scars and his tag confirmed his ID.
Kekoa RK72 followed him into the shallows. Kekoa would go to the right after making sure RG28 was settled in. G28 stayed in the corner most of the day.
At 12:30 Team Billand spotted Kaale RH32 way up on high rock snoozing alone with his tag showing.  Hmmm wonder if he bugged anyone when he first arrived.
On last check he was still snoozing at 4 pm.

The interesting NEWS of the day was a sighting at a westside beach park about 3 pm. Team Billand arrived and saw a volunteer on site and there were folks viewing the seal.
Team Billand observed this seal for over an hour, here's what they know;
female, no tags, adult
- right side of belly natural bleach mark
- underbelly two cookie scars, one large but healed
- line scar on left side of face & scars on left side jaw

This critter is reported as an unknown female, but where did she come from? It will be interesting to see what we hear, I do know the coconut wire was buzzing this afternoon :-)

Kekoa and RG28
 Kaale RH32

 RG28
 RW02 PvKauai
