March 12, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team Billand.

Team Billand started their morning checking out a westside beach when the first seal to arrive was Kekoa Alii TK72. He went straight to high rocks and went to sleep, but kept checking if another seal was in the area.  (hmmm wonder if they smell each other).
Sure enough Kawena RH36 came in and went to the right and up on the rocks. Team noticed there were a lot of crabs out and started to crawl on her. But this girl knew how to get rid of them, SHE snorted them off.

Team Billand moved to their next stop and found the lovely Leia RL42 sleeping on the rocks alone and peacefully.

From there Team Billand headed out to do the Ka'ena West trek. At the 20 they found Lei Ola RH48 alone, also enjoying her rest on the rocks below. Once they ID'd her tags they moved on to check and not draw attention to her.

Further along on their Ka'ena West trek they went looking for Albatross and chicks.  They were gifted with one special seal sighting, RG28/29 who is Pohaku's 2015 boy.  He barely moved for the entire visit, but they did get his tags. He is growing up looking big and healthy other than his numerous cookie scars. There is a new one just by his penis and appears to be healing fine. They also noticed a half cookie scar on his right side by his face.

The albatross were in full flight, feeding babies and doing their thing.
