March 14, 2019 (part 2) Lesley's Ka'ena Upafte

My day started very early checking beaches from Camp Erdman to Birth Beach.
Later I met up with team T&D and we headed out to the point on a retrieve nets mission.

Our first find was a beautiful BIG turtle at 10Mnts Beach - i have been convinced for years that, that big turtle is the same one. And sure enough after spending some time comparing my files it has been confirmed. David said she's a female so now she deserves a nickname and "Lady" it shall be.On our way back her face was turned towards the water and she was digging the sand and covering her body.

At Alau Cove we found RL42 "Leia" tucked in among some rocks.
In the NARS while checking from far at one of the nets I had documented Monday we saw a seal at the end of the Runway. It was RO40 "Ka'ena", still has his phone on the back but the antenna is gone.
From there David pointed out a white seal stretched out on the outer reefs of the Main Pool seal #3 was RG28 "Lefty"
Then down near the water line of Back Beach seals #4&5. RL12 "Aukai" looking ready to pop fingers crossed that she'll make it to Rabbit Island. Right by her side was R330 "Squinty". He looked so small beside her and he is a good size seal.

On our way back we were checking on RL42 "Leia" when Tammy said out loud "look she's hauling out"... sure enough across the beach seal #6 little RK40 "Napua" was making her way, gliding over the boulders beach.   More tomorrow ðŸŒº

Big Honu
Bet you can't find me ....
