2/3/2015 DB's Dailies : Kea,Kaiwi,Kainoa,Aukai@RI, Pohaku&Haupu@PC

I spent the vast majority of my day, hunkered under my COSTCO umbrella, at Makai Pier, with Rabbit Island totally invisible to me. You’d think that was a pretty crappy day, but nope.......... It was one of my all time favorite days !! What would prove to be Kaiwi (RK96) & Aukai (RL12) were together at the log, 40 ft left of 1BS, and Kainoa snoozed away the day , 80 ft right of 3BS. The day got a whole lot better when , on a pan, I noticed a new arrival, 50 ft right of 1BS. As the little animal began moving up, barely visible in the rain, I spied that wonderful , white , right paw (fore flipper) . It was KEA (RN46) !! He would move up high in the Morning Glory , and remained the rest of the day. This marks his first ever haul out to Rabbit Island. To say that I was stoked is a gross understatement.  Wow!  A milestone for Kea.... he's growing up !!  Hanging out with the rest of the gang on Rabbit Island!

At 0625 Team Billand called with the report of an animal at Paradise Cove. When the light got better, at 0657 they confirmed that it was Pohaku (RO28). As is often the case, some people got the idea, and some didn’t. Sad !

Speaking of some didn’t... the Billands got a call for an animal at Hau Bush, Ewa Beach. When they arrived they found only a wallow. When they contacted the caller he advised that the animal was run off by a woman who wanted to fish at that location. Once again.... Sad !

At 1135 Diane Terai called to report that Haupu (RB24) had hauled out to join Pohaku.

At 1641 Diane Gabriel checked in advising she was in the presence of RI37 in Hauula. Thank you Diga !!!

In the Yesterday’s News department, Kimo Smith sent shots from his trek to The End of the World yesterday (2-2-15). He found Ka’ena (RO40), Kolohe (RW22), RW02 & RK36 at Ka’ena Point. Thank you Kimo !
