2/1/2015 DB's Dailies: RM38&Buster@RI, Kea@BH, Haupu@Maili

Despite multiple checks of the SE quadrant by both myself and Melanie, the only critters seen were RM38, at 1BS & Buster (RV08)at Seal Rock Inlet, on Rabbit Island. The was quite a bit of surfing activity out there, but surprisingly, nobody thought about landing on RI. That would change with a call from Melanie at 1442, advising that Kea (RN46) was in the cove on the Sandy Beach side of the Blowhole Lookout. He had not been there on my 1400 check. He had last been seen on 1-17-15, at this location. There was quite a bit of traffic down there, so Melanie put up signs. Melanie... I thank you , and my knees thank you. Ya’ Done Good !! Kea remained at dark. HE's BACK! :-)

At 1455 the Billand’s neighbor ask if they were aware of the seal with an N24 number on it, at Maipalaoa, Maili ? They advised that it had been there at noon. The Billands responded at confirmed the Haupu (RB24) ID.

In the Yesterday’s News department, Kimo Smith once again sent shots of his trek (1-31-15) to The End of the World. He reported Luana (RN58)at Hidden Beach, and Ka’ena (RO40), RK36, RW02, R330 & Kolohe (RW22) at Ka’ena Point. It looked like a bumper crop of KP visitors, as usual way to up close and personal. Thank you Kimo for the shots and dealing with the adoring hordes.

Luana and people thinking they are being coy.
hard to tell from this perspective how close they are... but I will say this, at least they are laying low and not standing over and trying to get the seal to react.... ( this is just my thoughts from the photo, I have NO idea what the story is behind this.
now this one is appears too close.
