2/19/2015 DB's Dailies:U/M@RI, DB, Kekoa@RR, Haupu&Nihoa@Maipalaoa, Pohaku@Makaha & RIP@LahiLahi, Team Billand

It was another day in the Benny quest. Once again no Benny despite many a hectare covered by Gayle, Melanie & myself. The only critter out this way was a lone , adult male, at the cliff, left end of the island. He would later move down to cool off. With 45 mph winds, and horrible VOG, an ID, other than to say that it was a male, with a new coat, not much else was possible. No know who it wasn’t, I’m just not certain who it was. ??????

Team Billand found Haupu (RB24) in the Maipalaoa Canal again today. She would haul out, and then get knocked back into the water by the rising tide, but then haul out again at 1445.

At 0800 they found Nihoa (R912) also in the canal. She entered the water at 1411, and then did not see her again. At 1026 the Billands reported Kekoa (RK72) at the Reef Runway.

At 1245 the Billands advised that Debbie had reported Pohaku (RO28) at the Makaha Surfside Condo.

At 1513 the Billands spied an animal with a transmitter down the beach at LahiLahi. At 1521 they confirmed the RIP (RR70) ID. He would depart at 1522.

In the Yesterday’s News department Kimo Smith sent shots of RW02 & R330 from his Ka’ena Point trek, 2-18-15.
