07/09/2020 Thursday Act-With-Care Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Lesley, Melody and Team T&D.  Lesley's Ka'ena Point update is part two of the dailies.

Team T&D are on the Big Island and they had a three seal day and as an added bonus they saw a couple of green sea turtles.  Their first find was R8HE which I have known as a female from Kauai.  Their next find was the chubby weaner PH1 Hiwahiwa. And lastly but not least was RL50 Kaulana.
Nothing like going for a little R&R, going out and finding some seals.

Team Billand found Aukai RL12 before 7 am alone and high up on shore snoozing. They called the hotline to inform them They stuck around for about 2 hours and no volunteers came.  Team Billand watched from afar as folks went and sat by her and then others walked right by.
Aukai is looking very green, her girth is good, so she must be eating well getting ready for her molt.

At another west side location they found Rf28 near water front rocks and he was already in snoozing until he decided to enter the small water hole.
R3CX Nalu was just across from RF28 also sleeping but aware of RF28's location. He would occasionally turn to look at him.  There were no fights today just resting. Nalu's natural bleach on left side of head was visible.
On their late afternoon check both seals were still there.

Team Billand last stop they found Lei Ola RH48 alone resting on
the rocks. When they did a recheck she had entered her favorite watering hole to cool off.
Last but not least, they almost missed the little green goblin resting between the rocks on a small patch of sand.  This little guy needs to get on with his molt, it will be interesting to see where he ends up. He seems to be doing find despite having his lip pierced.

Melody decided to go spend some time with Nohea PO2. Seems this little one has been a little kolohe lately getting herself a little too comfortable with some campers in the area. Thankfully they are very respectful and understand the guidelines for our endangered monk seals. Someone needs to let Nohea know she can't be showing up at their tent.
But today Melody reports she was on her best behavior. When she arrived she met up with Gayle and Angie. Nohea sepnt most of the time at the waters edge snoozing. Eventually she woke up when she got washed over by the rising tide. Then she gradually galumphed her way up the sand, so Melody and Gayle readjusted the signs that were there.
