07/04/2020 Saturday Act-With-Care (102) Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Lesley, Marilyn and Team Billand. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies which includes Friday and Saturday report.

Team Billand was out checking out all the sites and despite all their looking they only found two seals today. And they did it in the rain, the pouring rain, which most of us experienced throughout the island.

They found Lei Ola RH48 alone. She is looking a little thinner today, but still healthy.  They did not stay long to keep her location safe, with so many people around.

Their next find was RL20 Kalua who was resting by seal rock inlet. Eventually the tide began to rise and he was getting wet and moved inland. On their last check later in the afternoon Kalua had moved all the way inland was resting alone.

Marilyn wasn't able to get to the pier until 1:30 since it had rained all morning. She spent two hours watching over three critters.
First there was Mom heading for the water and PO5 was galumphing in the opposite direction up the beach. After a few barks from Mom PO5 finally follower her into the water. They spent well over an hour swimming.  When they hauled back out there was a nursing session and then moved up the beach where Mom had some words with the birds that didn't want to get out of the way.  (That must have been something to see).

Marilyn became aware of PO3 Momona way out on the rock flats left of LPB. He played in the tide pools but kept getting rolled by the high tide. He ultimately made it across the rock flates and hauled out very close to the cliff at the back of LPB.
