Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:28 to 2:00 pm and there was only one seal seen during that time.
There was a Sub-adult Female alone near the SRI inlet. S/F: sub-adult size, older coat, light tan female belly, unsure about tags. Marilyn suspects this is the same S/F that she saw in that location yesterday.
Team R&B started their day checking out the outfall. They spottedtwo seals foraging in the area. One of them had a bleach spot on the left side of his face. They believe and were excited thinking this is Nalu R3CX. They determined the seal had tags, but soon lost sight of him.
There were snorkelers out and the two seals foraging near them. The second seal had CC scars on its back. This could be RL08, but they just weren't sure.
When they were checking out kahe, they were studying the water, the rocks, the water...... and then they see a seal landing on the rocks. They hurried over and there was a man standing there watching the seal. Team R&B ID'd RM31 Kai. Team R&B told the man all about RM31 and monk seals in general. While talking another seal appears and hauls in. This seal was RH32 Kaale, looking huge. (big boy butt head).
If having the two seals wasn't enough, they see another seal coming into the area. They saw the cc scar on back, scars on head and his big bleach spot on his left butt. That's when they knew it was R407 Kawika. He is looking handsome and healthy without a hook or fishing line. R407 tried to land near RM31 Kai, but Kai wasn't having in, find you own rock. Then R407 went to Kaale's side and he barked at him as well. Eventually R407 found a space to rest without disturbing the other two.
Team R&B let the guy next to them there was another seal in the water. This was number four. This seal, who Team R&B believe to be RL12 Aukai. They could see a little scar on her shoulder and one on her head.
Team R&B finally made out out to nimitz and there on the reed was one little seal. Kaiwa RT62 was hiding on the reed. Six locals came with fishing spears. One kid ran on the reef about 12 feet of the seal, Team R&B called out to be careful of the seal. The kid got off the reef. Team R&B stayed for almost another 45 minutes and left when it felt safe to go.
